The petrochemicals and chemical products industry is one of the most important sectors in the UAE, and the UAE is the third-largest producer of petrochemicals and chemical products in the GCC region. The sector has contributed to the diversification of the country’s economy and has significant export opportunities.
The TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone, part of the Ruwais Industrial Complex, will host world-scale chemicals production. Along with other TA’ZIZ anchor projects, this will enable more than USD 5bn in new value chains, with most chemicals being produced in the UAE for the first time.
Further integration of the chemical value chain will enable the UAE to decrease imports, enhance exports, and enable new downstream investments. In addition, the adoption of chemical speciality formulations technology will support the UAE’s aim to further tap into high-value markets.
