In the
UAE, which is a major market for halal products, we have worked hard to develop
a comprehensive set of halal standards. The UAE is one of the largest consumers
of halal products, and since these products are imported from all over the
world, it is important that they comply with the standards and requirements of the
UAE system for the control of halal products. It is also important that halal
products exported from the UAE meet the needs of international markets
The UAE's halal food and beverage market is the third largest in the world and is expected to exceed 20 billion dirhams (US$5.5 billion) in 2022, according to the Global Islamic Economy Index. :Subject
The
Emirates Quality Mark is granted to products that conform to a set of standard
specifications. The mark signifies that the products are manufactured in
factories that implement an effective quality management system and apply
comprehensive quality assurance procedures, such as factory audits. It is a
mark of confidence and gives products a competitive advantage. It raises consumer
confidence facilitates exports to major regional and international markets.
To
motivate manufacturers in the UAE to obtain the Emirates Quality Mark, the
Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology is providing a 50% discount on the
mark's fees providing the manufacturer holds an industrial production license.
The Ministry is also supporting small- and medium-sized businesses by exempting
them from the mark's licensing fees during the first cycle of product
licensing.
