Abu Dhabi-UAE: 18 April 2024 – The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has concluded its participation in the World Future Energy Summit with a call for companies and investors to attend the Make it in the Emirates Forum next month. Held in Abu Dhabi and hosted by Masdar, the World Future Energy Summit was an opportunity to promote the initiatives and projects of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, which are designed to enhance the UAE’s position as a global destination for future industries and technology. MoIAT’s participation in the energy forum reflects the close links between industry and energy, including clean energy – a relationship that will be further explored at the Make It in the Emirates Forum on 27-28 May. During the World Future Energy Summit, the ministry highlighted the key opportunities associated with the Make It in the Emirates initiative, which aims to attract international businesses and investors to the industrial sector, as well as enhance the role of technology and innovation in sustainable industrial development. Under the national industrial strategy, MoIAT is developing strategies and policies to support competitiveness and growth while also promoting sustainable practices. One of its latest achievements in this regard was the implementation of the Federal Regulation for Energy Management in Industrial Facilities in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. This regulation aims to support the development of the national industrial sector according to global best practices in energy efficiency. The regulation aims to reduce energy consumption in industry in line with the objectives of the National Program for Energy and Water Demand Management 2050. It is part of MoIAT’s efforts to drive the reduction of carbon emissions in the industrial sector to meet the targets outlined in the Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap, aiming for reductions of up to 93% by 2050. The Make it in the Emirates initiative is one of the country’s most important programs supporting industrial sustainability. Among its objectives is empowering companies to adopt Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies that help enhance sustainability and productivity. These technologies also boost competitiveness regionally and internationally by improving energy efficiency and enhancing operational performance. Wide participation The World Future Energy Summit witnessed wide participation from key government officials in the energy sector, as well as industry leaders, policymakers, partners, investors, and a large number of representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises. The summit supports a more sustainable future, aiming to build on the outcomes of COP28 hosted by the UAE in 2023. This includes the historic UAE Consensus, which supports the international community’s efforts to limit the globe’s average temperature increase to below 1.5 degrees Celsius. The summit welcomed more than 30,000 visitors from 112 countries, establishing itself as one of the world’s leading events for the energy transition. The summit was divided into six exhibitions and several halls, in addition to the Green Hydrogen Innovations Hub, which was launched at the 2023 edition of the summit.
